Chocolate Croissante this morning before classes!!! So good. For my art history class we went over to see the Santa Croce. It’s about a minute walk from the school. Once inside we learned that this was where Michaelangelo and Gallileo’s tombs are located. It was so strange to think that I was in the same room as them in a way. I wish I brought my camera, but I wasn’t sure if it was allowed or not as a lot of the places like this don’t permit it. Of course they ended up allowing it so will most definitely be going back to shoot.
After class I got to skype with Mady!
I did some more exploring today and found so many good shops! I met up with Rice again to take pictures at the Duomo and then we grabbed some dinner at a restaurant near my apartment. After dinner we went back out to do some night shooting!
P.S. We went out for gelato again for art history class and Rice got Rice flavored gelato!!!

I’m starting to get a hang on this city! I could do without the mosquitoes though! Today my art history teacher mentioned that we should all go out to the museums tonight as they were all open for free. Rice and I went to The Museo Academia, which is where Michaelangelo’s “David” is located. Oh my god. I don’t even know what else to say. It was giant and completely demanded the presence of the entire museum. Afterwards, we went to The National Museum of …I can’t remember the name of it right now! Haha. But from the outside it didn’t look much like a museum, then when you walk in you are completely surprised at the size of the structure. On the second floor there is a room dedicated to the work of Donatello and so we got to see his “David” statue as well.
In between the two museum visits we stopped to get crepes! Nutella and banana filled! I have a feeling this is going to be a frequent occurrence…
I finally took out my camera today! I wish I had access to the internet more often so I could actually post something!

First day of classes!
My classes are a bit harder than I had expected. I guess I didn’t realize that they were trying to cram in material intended for an entire semester into a three week period! So much reading to do! I haven’t even been able to take out my cameras!
Anyway, after classes I went around Florence with Rice to find one of her classrooms and to pick up our reading materials. We ended up grabbing lunch and afterwards pretty much got lost in the city (she won’t admit it though). We ended up at the Duomo! Oh my god it’s amazing. If I actually had time to take pictures I’d post some for you guys! Hopefully later today or tomorrow I can catch up.

Yesterday was one long day full of travels. After almost not having a seat on one of my flights and several hours on a plane with a screaming babies, I’ve arrived in Florence. It’s a bit overwhelming being here at first. I’m completely disoriented. However, I made it to my apartment and met my roommates. One of them took me for a brief tour of the city so I had a better idea of where to go for my classes to following day. I had a mandatory orientation that night in which I got lost on the way over, but i ran into Rice once I got there! I don’t have much internet access here so I may be posting every couple of days. Pictures to come soon!
I’m starting this blog back up again since last summer as I will be heading off to Italy tomorrow evening! I wanted to keep a blog to let everyone know what I’m up to and so I could have something to look back upon once I return from my trip.
Wish me luck!
I woke up ridiculously early this morning, 4am. I had a van coming to pick me up at 5 to take me to the airport. Last night I spent the majority of my time packing while everyone else went out to the club. I really wish I could have gone, but I had so much to pack! I ended up going to bed at 2, which left me with no time at all to sleep, but it was okay because I had the plane rides to sleep. When I got up and took my bags outside Argentina was in the kitchen, again. Haha. Sorry Alexis! There was a similar story with Australia in the other apartment, but I won’t go into that. I headed down to the cafe at the bottom of the stairs from our apartment to catch my ride. A few minutes late the can still hadn’t come, but two girls on the back of mopeds drive by and turn around in front of the harbor. I thought it was pretty silly that they turned around there and then all of a sudden I recognized one of the girls. It was Tori! Haha. And a second later I realized the other girl was Meg. They told me a few stories which once again I really can’t post here. Anyway, they waited with me until my ride came and we said our goodbyes. The van drove up to Sam and Hannah’s apartment and picked them up. It was about a half hour ride to the airport, but it went really fast. I wish it didn’t so I could have taken in everything one last time.
Today is my last day in Croatia. I woke up at 9 and saw that Tori was up as well. We decided that we would go to old town because the shops all closed early today for the holiday. It is independence day in Dubrovnik. We grabbed a pasty on the way. Old town was so crowded. I couldn’t believe how many people were there. I bought a few things for myself and as we were shopping a parade starting going down the main street. They played music and we stopped to take a few pictures. I couldn’t really stand there being so many people so we decided to head back to the apartment. By that time everyone was up and we all wanted to go swimming. We went to our normal spot. The water was cold today, but I went in anyway. I was still hungry and ended up getting three ice creams from the little shop near the beach. I didn’t stay long at the beach because I needed to pack. I hate saying goodbye. When I made my way back to the apartment we all decided to go out to dinner. We got ready and left around 7. We went back to the vegetarian restaurant Nishtu. I really like it there. I ordered the sunshine soup again and of course the chocolate fondue. Oh I’m gonna miss that! Before we left to go out to dinner Meg told us that she heard we were all in the local paper. So before leaving old town after dinner I picked up a few copies of the newspaper. I’m back at the apartment now, packing. I really don’t want to leave. I miss everyone already. I’m leaving at 5 in the morning so I should really go to bed soon.
